National Mutt Day

You had no choice at the end of that leash.

And you weren’t the one feeding me three-day-old quiche.

Yet you lay down and waited while I destroyed the commode.

Grateful I didn’t do it in our humble abode.

Because, unlike you, I have no other alternative.

As to where I make this stench so demanding of a superlative.

And when I’m done, there’ll be no little baggie.

To throw in an unattended receptacle long and saggy.

For on that long-awaited day, the world will be humming.

When all dogs learn the science of indoor plumbing.
